Job
Purpose:
The incumbent is a member of a team providing timely and high quality planning, scheduling and project control support to NEL Project to enable delivery of the project in accordance with approved procedures, guidelines and execution plans. He/she will provide the entire Project with planning expertise in support of all aspects of the project, through subsurface development, front-end engineering, project approval and the execution phase. This is a contract role needed for a period of 18 months

Main Activities and Responsibilities
Provide
planning advice to the project leadership team in support of the
decision-making process.
To
develop and maintain the overall Project Level I & II Plans. Provide
pro-active and quality input during development and revision of project
execution strategies
Effective management of the dynamics
of project plans during the project definition phase.
Develop the planning, scheduling and
reporting requirements for all Invitation to Tenders. Contribute to the tender
evaluation process for all major contracts. Review and evaluate the execution
plans proposed by individual contractors.
Develop and maintain integrated
planning procedures and support interfaces with other project management
systems
To lead, co-ordinate and manage
planning and scheduling of the entire project in accordance with NEL planning
standards.
Manage and steer the combined planning team effort and liaise effectively with project leaders and all project, cost and contract engineers.

Ensure the integrity and consistency
of the planning system is maintained over the entire project and that the
procedures for obtaining necessary engineering inputs are followed.
Perform progress audits and reviews
at all project sites.
Develop input for and participate in
projects reviews (PERTS, etc.), the VAR process, peer assists and all technical
challenge sessions as they occur.
Assist the Project to optimize
critical path activities and directly contribute to delivery of the project to
schedule.
Contribute to tangible improvements
in NEL’s project planning, monitoring, and control practices across major
projects
Provide planning input to the
monthly Project Report for circulation to senior management.
Continuously assimilate relevant
information from across the project and from all contractors and convert into a
cohesive logic based Project Plan.
To review contractor progress
reports and provide early advice on trends or indicators to the leadership
team; collaborate with the major contractors and vendors to optimize their
project planning and control procedures and to establish procedures for
management information flow to the projects (e.g. status reports, schedule
updates, etc.).
Eventual interface with multiple
contractor planners to monitor compliance with project requirements and address
issues with respect to planning set-up and reporting
To co-ordinate together with the
Project Accountant the Project’s input to the annual Corporate Budget Planning
cycle;
Develop and maintain schedule risk
models and provide input to the leadership team on reference risks and
uncertainties.
Contribute to the developments of a
planning competency amongst NEL local staff.

Education and Experience:
Experienced graduate level Planning Engineer with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in oil & gas industry of which at least 10 years must have been with a major operator.
Must have previous experience of working in a similar role on a major project from concept through to commissioning.
Proficient in the use of computerized planning tools such as Primavera, Artemis, Microsoft Project etc.
Knowledge of computerized project management (planning, scheduling, monitoring and control) in a multi-project environment is a pre-requisite.
Strong project management, technical, communication and leadership skills. Should be self -motivated and a proven achiever.
Experienced graduate level Planning Engineer with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in oil & gas industry of which at least 10 years must have been with a major operator.
Must have previous experience of working in a similar role on a major project from concept through to commissioning.
