Delta State Polytechnic Latest Recruitment For Librarian




At the inception of DSHEP in January 2002, the Ministry of Education was charged with the responsibility of supervising the developments of the Polytechnics and College of Physical Education. However, fresh developments created a situation necessitating a re-think and review of the implementation stages designed for the project in order to ensure undiluted focus, balanced perspective as well as cost- effective time sensitive goal achievement.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Librarian in Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.

Job Description
The Position
By virtue of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Law, 2002, the Librarian is a Principal Officer responsible to the Rector for the library services of the Polytechnic.
The Candidate
Applicants for this key Management position must be candidates with vision, proven professional distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life, who should be able to provide the Management and Council of the Polytechnic with appropriate advice on the administration of the Polytechnic library and co-ordination of library services in the teaching units of the Polytechnic.
Tenure of Office
The Librarian shall hold office for a period of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment and may be re-appointed for a further period of five (5) years and no more.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must possess a minimum of M.L.S. with 15 years cognate experience.
In addition, candidate should have experience in tertiary institution and must also be extensively computer-literate.
Basic Salary
CONTEDISS 16, point of entry depends on years of experience.

Publications (books, monographs and published articles);
Technical reports;
Present employment status, salary and employer;
Extra-curricular activities;
Names and addresses of 3 referees (two of whom must be in candidate’s field of study).

Each referee should be requested by the applicant to forward direct to the Chairman, Governing Council, a confidential report on the candidate’s character, academic and managerial abilities in a properly sealed envelope marked: POST OF
THE LIBRARIAN: REFEREE’S REPORT at the top left hand corner of the envelope.
