VACANCY – PROJECT MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:
Typical day to day responsibilities will include liaising with the site team and meeting with both senior level management and the end client to ensure the project is running to scale and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will ideally have a background in working in heavy civils construction and have experience working in Africa.
The position is a challenging role and candidates should be willing and ready to work extensive hours and work long periods without leave.
The position is paying a competitive salary for the region and comes with 2/3 flights per annum along with a full ex pat package.

PROJECT MANAGER

ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning and execution of projects .This includes project planning, developing schedules, resource planning & cost control and risk management as well as ensuring that reporting requirements are in place to satisfy customer and company requirements. Responsible for ensuring those involved in the project (Commercial, Procurement, Production, Quality) have plans in place to meet the obligations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery of projects safely, on time and within budget
Identify and agree changes to the project scope
Ensure company processes and procedures are followed
Identify new business opportunities and support the tender process
Take full responsibility(Technical & Commercial) for all the work undertaken on the project
Generate complete scope of supply list and issue to Commercial Group for Sales Order Loading.
Produce project deliverables to specification and on schedule and meet or exceed project margin targets
Understand and execute the contract commercially
Ensure accurate project schedules are in place and maintained regularly ensuring proper alignment with the Business Master Schedule
Identify new business opportunities and manage the variation order process with the Commercial Group
Generate the list of technical exceptions, deviations and clarifications
Identify and document technical, schedule and commercial risks
Arrange design reviews and ensure documented and Client involvement as required
Leadership of the Project Team to meet targets but also to develop the individual team members to ensure their personal growth and increased value to the business
Ensure that all necessary project functions, including HSE management and QA are established and organised in a way that ensures an effective and safe execution of the project scope of work
Ensure that the project requirements will include resource to cover: Management of technical requirements, Engineering
Provide regular updates to Management Team on project status, both technical and financial
Organize formal lessons learned meetings at end of each project

REQUIREMENTS:
Degree qualified and/or experience in an Engineering or Project Management position
Previous experience within a project environment
Excellent communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Capable of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules
Excellent Customer orientation
Excellent computing skills, particularly MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint & MS Project

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

A self starter and dynamic PhD with extensive experience in managing a business school is sought to head up Regenesys in Nigeria.

The incumbent will take full responsibility for local operations in that country.
Develops and recommends annual business plans and supporting budgets to the Board.
Develops and manages and sales and marketing strategy to achieve budgets.
Manages the daily operations of the office with particular emphasis on meeting sales targets.
Ensures adequate staff and structures are available for the effective functioning of the office.

PROJECT OFFICER

OVERALL PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Section responsible for Social Governance, the project officer is expected to contribute and
provide technical expertise tothe EU Delegation in all phases of the project management cycle, in particular to ensure proper project appraisal and subsequently monitoring of project implementation, and sector reviews. The project officer will be assigned specific projects among the subsectors covered by the Sodal Governance Section which include water, sanitation and hygiene, environment and food security

GENERAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Contribution to programming and mid-term review of the Nigeria Country StrategyPaper, Identification and formulation of programmes and projects
Internal monitoring of projects' implementation in co-ordination with Nigerian authorities (National Planning Commission), ensuring that EU regulations and prccedures.are followed.
Contribution to regular reporting requirements.
Contribution to donor coordination mechanisms
Contribution to sector policy dialogue and engagement with actors at federal, state and non-state levels
Contribution to the visibility of the EU cooperarion in the sector/projects concerned

In the performance of the above-mentioned duties, the expert will work closely together with the other members of the Delegation and in particular the Operations and Finance and Contracts sections

EDUCATION
University level education of at least 4 years: essential
Domains: Civil/Water/Rural Engineering/Devebpment studies or related field
University studies must be attested by diplomas relevant to the position (Master or equivalent).

EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 1 year professional experience as a project officer in the area of Social Governance (domain: water
sanitation and environment}. preferably with international organizations.
Specific experience in working with EU funded projects is an asset.

LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must be fluent in English and have excellent communication and drafting skills; knowledge of French is also an advantage
